Hogwarts Magistrates Workshop
Hogwarts took part in a Magistrates workshop on Monday. The children were visited by a working magistrate, who explained what a Magistrates Court is and what Magistrates do there.
The classroom was set up as a model courtroom. The class worked as a team to play all the roles in their ‘mock trial.’ All the children were actively involved in the decision-making process regarding the sentencing outcome following the ‘hearing.’
The children discussed social awareness, the concept of rules and law, personal responsibility and the impact of sentencing in a court of law. The children also talked about the fine line between bullying and criminal behaviour.
The workshop encouraged ‘team-working’, decision making, sound judgement, social awareness, public speaking & consequential thinking.
