Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week
Children have been taking part in a range of activities to promote their mental health and well-being. Children in Hogwarts regained their inner calm by body scanning and listening to audio books.
Narnia created their clay pots in their art session this week. The tactile nature of moulding the clay provides a unique sensory experience that alleviates stress and help us to unwind. Narnia also took part in some circle time activities.
Neverland have been rehearsing their version of “Roar.” Singing lowers cortisol and relieves stress and tension. Studies show that when people sign, endorphins and oxytocin are released by the brain which lowers stress and anxiety levels.
Thank you to Dianne and Sam from Healthy Minds for delivering a workshop to parents around managing angry feelings. Parents left with resources and additional knowledge to support their young person at home. For more information visit the Lincolnshire NHS Partnership webpage.
Thank you to parents for engaging and the positive feedback too. We hope to be able to organise future workshops which were suggested and requested.
Children are taught about themselves, naming and managing their feelings and emotions and relationships through our PHSE curriculum. Personal, social and health education enables children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society.
Through PSHE children are provided with opportunities to enable them to develop skills to investigate, make sense of and communicate with the world around them in order to become responsible, healthy members of the community.
More information can be found on our website on the PHSE/RSE page.
