We are proud to announce we have been awarded the Lincolnshire Reading Pledge Bronze award.
The Lincolnshire Reading Pledge has been developed by Witham St Hughs English Hub and L.E.A.D. Teaching School Hub, working in collaboration with Professor Teresa Cremin (Reading for Pleasure & The Open University).
At Caythorpe Primary we value the importance of reading and how it can improve a child’s life chances. The ultimate aim of the Lincolnshire Reading pledge is to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, needs or abilities, becomes a confident, fluent and enthusiastic reader.
To achieve the award some of the criteria includes that the school has to ensure there are reading for pleasure books available throughout the school and that these are sent home to be shared with parents and carers. There are reading areas within each classroom in the school. The school also have to celebrate World Book and National Poetry Days.
Thank you to parents and children who attended our World Book Day, reading workshops and completed the reading for pleasure surveys - these went towards this achievement.
Well done, Mr Roberts, our English and phonics lead who supported the school through the process!
