Last week we welcomed the Bikeability Team to deliver Level 1 and 2 training to our Year 5 pupils.
The children are first taught about the A,B,C, Ds of keeping your bicycle road worthy. They are also taught the importance of wearing a helmet and suitable clothing to stay safe on their bikes.
For level one the children successfully showed they could control their bike: including setting off, cruising, slowing down, braking and stopping. You’ll even learn to pedal one handed!
For level two, pupils are out on the roads learning to understand the road: signals, signs and road markings and to negotiate the road: including quiet junctions, crossroads and roundabouts.
Well done to all our successful level 1 and Two bikers!
There are bikeability courses for adults and families too. To find out more visit https://www.bikeability.org.uk/
We believe confident cycling opens up a world of opportunity – commuting to school, out for a family bike ride, keeping fit or just hanging out with your friends. Wherever you need to go, the Bikeability courses will prepare pupils for a lifetime of fun.
