First Aid Workshops
It’s important that all people have an understanding of basic first aid. Last week the school was visited by Lizzie from First Aid Friends who delivered a first aid workshop for each class in the school. Each workshop kicked off with a look at a first aid kit, children got a hands-on experience with building their own first aid kit in groups.
Lizzie was then helped out with the First Aid Friends mascot to discuss the DR-ABC method of approaching an accident scene.
The workshop also ran through basic biology and exercise science to enable children to develop an understanding of our ability to breath and discuss what a pulse is. The children then were taught the recovery position and how to make sure patients are in the best position ready for the emergency services to arrive.
