Enchanted Forest: Busy learning about Bees
The children in Early Years were enthralled by Beth and Dotty and their knowledge of bees. She showed the children her equipment such as the smoker and protective wear such as gloves and hat. Arlo told Beth “Did you know honey bees have two stomachs.”
Ted asked, “Why do bees make honey?” to which Beth replied because it is their food, so that is why we as bee keepers must be careful not to take too much of their honey as they need it to survive.
Olivia- Rose asked, “Where do bees go in the Winter?” Beth informed the class that bees slow down in the Winter and they gather around the queen bee to protect her from the cold.
The children explained to Beth and Dotty that we are creating a meadow of wildflowers at the back of our garden to attract the bees and butterflies.
